satchel.email › Mail
A mail client first.
With no AI anywhere near it, satchel.email is a complete mail app: one inbox for every account, conversations that read like a chat, search that answers before you finish typing, and a keyboard shortcut for everything.
Every account, one inbox
Labels show as folders, with All Mail beside them. Google Calendar and Contacts come along.
Mail, calendars and contacts through Microsoft Graph.
The modern mail protocol, with CalDAV and CardDAV for the rest.
IMAP and SMTP, plus CalDAV and CardDAV where your host has them.
Gmail and Microsoft sign in through your browser. Passwords and tokens are kept in your system keychain, never in a file.
While Google and Microsoft finish reviewing the app, their sign-in is limited. What works today.
Conversations that read like a chat
Mail between people becomes a stream of bubbles, yours on the right, each showing only what that person wrote. The quoted history underneath is folded away. Newsletters and receipts keep their layout as a full-width card.
A "New" line marks where you left off. Long threads fold the middle. A reply to an earlier message quotes it, and clicking the quote jumps there. When someone is added to the thread, it says so.
The reply box is always open at the bottom, and stays tucked away for mail that doesn't expect an answer, like bank alerts and newsletters.
Search on your own disk
All your mail is indexed in a database on your computer, so search doesn't wait for a server. Type words, or narrow it down:
from:bobto:[email protected]with:danasubject:invoicehas:attachmentis:unreadis:flaggedis:favoritebefore:2026-01-01after:2025-06in:archive
Click anyone's name to see everything between you: their addresses, how often you write, the meetings you share, and every conversation, filtered by all, from them, or with attachments.
Private by default
Images that report when you opened a message stay off until you load them. Known trackers are stripped.
HTML mail is cleaned before it's shown, then drawn in a sandbox where it can't run scripts or reach the app.
Links that say one address and go to another, and senders who fail authentication, are called out.
Mark a sender as spam once and their mail goes to Junk from then on. Not spam brings them back.
For mailing lists that support it, without opening a web page.
Your mail goes from your provider to your computer. There's nothing in between to read it.
Small things done properly
- Undo send. A few seconds to take it back.
- Sends go out once. If the connection drops mid-send, satchel.email won't quietly send it twice.
- Works offline. Archive, file and write without a connection; it all syncs when you're back.
- Newest mail first. A new account is usable in moments while older mail fills in behind it.
- Attachments in place. Images, PDFs, audio, video, spreadsheets and text open beside the conversation, with ← → between them.
- Light on disk. All your mail is kept, but attachments download only when you open them, within a storage limit you set.
- Favorite senders. Heart the people who matter and their mail stands out everywhere.
- Quiet notifications. One notification per batch of new mail, and none while you're looking at the app.
- Drafts sync. Start on your laptop, finish on your phone's mail app.
- Dark mode. Of course.
Built for the keyboard
Every action has a shortcut, and every shortcut is in the command palette, so you can find any of them by name.
